About JunkChuck

Native, Militant Westsylvanian (the first last best place), laborer, gardener, and literary hobbyist (if by literary you mean "hack"). I've had a bunch of different blogs, probably four, due to a recurring compulsion to start over. This incarnation owes to a desire to dredge up the best entries of the worst little book of hand-scrawled poems I could ever dream of writing, salvageable excerpts from fiction both in progress and long-abandoned. and a smattering of whatever the hell seems to fit at any particular moment. At first blush, I was here just to focus on old, terrible verse, but I reserve the right to include...anything. Maybe everything, certainly my love of pulp novels growing garlic, the Pittsburgh Steelers and howling at the moon--both figuratively and, on rare occasions, literally.

  1. This is what my dining room table looked like a little while ago. There was some trick or treating at the local businesses.

Alas, just a memory at our house. We’re not even going to be home for trick or treat this year–got to go to the big game and see the daughters’ boyfriends defend our humble hometown’s gridiron honor. Chance of snow by kickoff. Brrrrrr.

      • Yeah, I know a lot of high school kids who have football games tonight. Some are taking the night off for Halloween. Oh well, I pretty much stopped trick or treating by 13 anyway. Stay warm!

Don’t eat that all at once, Charlie!

That’s art, Tony, not food. A previous season’s booty, no less–arrrrgggghhhh. My kids are driving now, far too old and too cool to trick or treat–no no more stolen Reese’s Cups in the darkest depths of night.
