Christmas Cookie Question

So, last week I did my traditional Christmas Cookie Bake with my mom. We only had a day 2967306287_04e3ec0da1this year, so I’ve been catching up on what we didn’t get to during the week between then and now.  Problem: during the early stages, with not as much selection, my family devastated what had seemed like a substantial supply of Peanut Butter Blossoms and Toll House Cookies, noshing their way through about half of the 8 dozen blossoms. Seriously.  I’ve since completed the inventory, but I have such high expectations of copious stock that I feel like a diminished inventory in any single variety is unacceptable.

I know, talk about a First World Problem!  Still, I have an audience here, so I’m looking for your feedback. Am I crazy, worrying that I need to have a more excessive amount of sugary treats–is a regular amount of excessive not enough?  Do you worry about having enough, like I do?

There’s a vanity element to this: I want people to see my cookies and get all impressed, and they can’t do that if we run out.  Likewise, I want people to eat them–to taste them–and while I know it is strange to want people to eat them but not want them to be gone, here I am.

About JunkChuck

Native, Militant Westsylvanian (the first last best place), laborer, gardener, and literary hobbyist (if by literary you mean "hack"). I've had a bunch of different blogs, probably four, due to a recurring compulsion to start over. This incarnation owes to a desire to dredge up the best entries of the worst little book of hand-scrawled poems I could ever dream of writing, salvageable excerpts from fiction both in progress and long-abandoned. and a smattering of whatever the hell seems to fit at any particular moment. At first blush, I was here just to focus on old, terrible verse, but I reserve the right to include...anything. Maybe everything, certainly my love of pulp novels growing garlic, the Pittsburgh Steelers and howling at the moon--both figuratively and, on rare occasions, literally.

I know what you mean, I worry about not having enough too and always make what I think is an ample supply and my family always polishes it off. My those cookies look delicious!

  2. I’m sure what you have is plenty. We always worry and in my experience I always have more than I should.

And, by the way, is the the most goddam fetching macho post you’ve ever read?

I reckon the trick is to hide some to keep in reserve and ration them a bit so that the family can’t snarf them all in the first few hours… but if they do if you have a reserve set all will not be lost.

  6. This is slightly off-topic, but, here and in the post about your Christmas party, your food photos—which I normally don’t like—are really nice.
