Kim Jong “Sponge Bob” Il

A short while back, North Korea’s indomitable little despot, Kim Jong Un, son of my good old friend Kim Jong Il, held a press conference to tell the world that he could use a hydrogen bomb to destroy Manhattan pretty much any damn time the mood struck him. Given the disparity of nuclear weapon stocks, as well as the technology gap between the USA and the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea that would virtually assure North Korea’s quick and efficient transformation into a vast, glassy hole in the ground in the event of an atomic engagement, I pretty much ignored the threat–but what did concern me was Jong Il’s own transformation from fairly normal looking Asian dictator into–do you see it?–Sponge Bob.

  1. I think I’ve watched dozens and dozens of documentaries about North Korea. This guy is batshit crazy, but real scary. It’d be a great mistake to ignore and make fun of this little guy. Seoul, the capital of SK is just 50 km from the border. I don’tknow what South Koreans feel about this. Hundreds of thousands of South Koreans have immigrated to the Philippines.

    1. One has to hope that the Kim family and the entitled class in North Korea enjoy their luxurious lifestyles enough not to do something stupid. In the meantime, as long as they continue to rattle swords and live lives of kings built on the blood and bones of the masses, I’ll continue to mock and disdain them. In my mind, it is the duty of all free men and women to scorn oppressors. And Kim, like his father before him, is such an easy target.

      1. I understand. I make fun of him, too. I just think it’s really time for all free governments and their leaders to do something about this person. It’s good that Pres. Obama has added more sanctions and I think others should follow. North Koreans are as crazy as their leader. I can’t believe this kind of thing is happening in the 21st century. To be honest, I really don’t care about them, it’s what they want, and as long as they don’t harm anyone else, unlike ISIS, well, it’s their own look-out. Who are we to tell them what they want. The problem is, they have nukes.
